Nice variety of drinks and beers, good food, great atmosphere, usually with live music. Most pleasant bar of the five points area by far.

This bar is absurd with a "capacity" limit although the outside that is very sizable. Not worth a cover or a wait to get inside. Very disappointed by the way the bouncer handled things inside. Bouncer was disrespectful and aggressive. He was willing to actually push and shove women to keep numbers "even". Would not recommend to any friend.
Update the bouncer told us to "eat a dick" although someone had to urinate -

Jake's is an unsafe bar, the management is more worried about playing with the dogs than dealing with violent and intimidating patrons. I felt threatened and intimidated and nothing was done - even when I directly told the manager about an incident that he and all the other patrons witnessed. I remind you, it is a businesses DUTY to maintain a safe premises for its patrons. Failing to kick out patrons who threaten and intimidate other patrons is a failure to uphold that DUTY.
I was regular at Jake's for their Yappy Hour (I would go twice a week) - It was a good time for my dog and I had the chance to get some homework done and relax, however, I WILL NOT be returning ever again.
On Oct 1, 2019 - my dog and another patrons dog got into a little scuffle (as dogs normally do during yappy hour) -- the owner of the other dog took it upon himself to break up the dogs by sticking his hand in between the dogs faces. Predictably, one of the dogs nipped one of his fingers as he broke them apart, causing him to bleed slightly. I immediately took control over my dog and apologized for his unfortunate 'wound'. The owner of the other dog assured me that it was 'all good' and it was just 'dogs being dogs'.
About 10 minutes later, our dogs were once again playing around, not scuffling or anything more than just following each other around closely, when the owner of the other dog stands up and starts shouting at me to "CONTROL YOUR ANIMAL." At the time I was typing an essay for school the next day (USC Law) -- I immediately stood up and walked over to get my dog, when the other owner decided to begin threatening me. Calling my dog vicious, calling me every 4 letter word in the book. I told the man to calm down, and that there was no need to be so angry. He then told me that my dog bit his hand, caused him to bleed, and he considered him vicious, and I needed to keep him under control. I assured him that my dog was not vicious, and the reason for his wound was because he stuck his hand in between two animals who were scuffling! The man then proceeded to threaten to beat me up, to assault me, to punch me in the face. I once again told him to relax as I proceeded back to my table, holding my dog by his collar. I sat down to continue my paper, and the man continued to stand there yelling at me, threatening me, and calling me names. I ignored him.
Later the manager, Jung, told me that I needed to leash my dog because he had been very rowdy that night and assumed my dog bit that mans hand. I told him that I understand and I would leash my dog - however - I was upset by being threatened with violence by a drunk patron, and I felt like I was the one being punished. Jung dismissed my concern, by saying "I understand that you're frustrated". I told Jung that I attend Yappy Hour twice a week, I buy drinks, I study, and my dog never has caused an issue in the past. I told him if he allows patrons like that to threaten other patrons, and to intimidate them, I will never return. Jung's only response to my concern was "well I am sorry you feel that way".
So I left and I will never return. I will not spend my money at an establishment that allows and even defends patrons who bully, threaten and intimidate other patrons for no justifiable reason. I do not want to spend my Tuesday and Thursday nights being threatened with violence, no one should.
Someone will get hurt at Jake's due to the negligence of the management.
DO NOT ATTEND THIS BAR
BOYCOTT YAPPY HOUR.
I really wish the owners would reach out to me in order to resolve this - I really did enjoy Jake's until I realized that they would actually defend someone who was threatening to assault me in their bar, loudly and in front of everyone. Never again. -

My friend and I came out to five points to meet a group of people at Jakes. The bouncer, he said his name was Travis, denied me. I'm 21. I watched girls get let in with Fake ID's. I had on leggings and a T-shirt and my hair up so I guess I didn't qualify for the bouncers standards. He proceeded to be verbal with my friend and I, who stood outside waiting on our other friends. He was trying to be a smart the whole time and had an attitude. He definitely ruined Jake's for me, I won't be back and neither will any of my friends

Jake's is an awesome bar with an extensive drink menu. Do note that there is very limited parking. I was fortunate enough to get there early enough to snag one of the two spots right in front. (Free after 6pm) We were carded at the front, and then greeted by the bar staff.
The manager was incredibly interactive with the Yelpers and other patrons. We were provided with yummy hot dogs that's were on an interesting bun. One thing I ABSOLUTELY loved was their smoked wings. It's a dry rub that's sweet with a slight kick. You'll get about 6-8 wings for $12, so it's a bit expensive for me, but definitely worth it! I also tried their passion fruit cocktail, and it was soooo yummy!
The ambiance is very comfortable considering it's a bar. I can imagine it being a hot spot for college kids and hipsters . They have two pool tables and some high top tables. Very cool spot ! The staff were pretty cool and interactive as well. I would definitely consider coming back.
